Banner Advertisement v/s Other Advertising Methods

When advertising hits hard the advertisements themselves make more sense than any brand. I still remember many popular advertisements of the yesteryears. And I surely won’t be the only one who likes good advertisements more than soap operas. Let us not distract from our primary concern – the banner advertisement.

The flashy advertisement strips that you see on the websites are banner advertisements. They usually appear at the top and bottom of the web page. These advertisements are very important because it is the first thing that you notice on a site. Though they appear as thin floating comic pieces or sometimes as painted region on your screen, but they are very effective. Website owners often sell that space and thereby earn some money.

Other than banner advertisements there are some other means by which you can promote or advertise on the Internet. The three known ones include e-mail Opt-in lists, ezine write-ups and pay per click method. The last one can be considered as both an advertising model as well as advertising method.

In the big fight banner advertisement comes as the winner. The advertisement, unlike Opt-in lists or pay per click contextual advertisement message, is more catchy, interactive and directed towards the user. It bears a resemblance with that of print advertisement and thus plays on the accepted psyche of the masses.

If you want to make it simple and fast, it is the banner advertisement. An e-mail Opt-in list takes some time, although you may shoot it instantaneously. In PPC, again there are some reservations regarding bidding the right price, the competition and other hiccups. The articles in the ezine are in no way amusing except for the content, which again will catch an audience member after prolonged study. On the other hand a nice ad on you website will immediately work upon the users thoughts. So, in the final contest again banner advertisements come up as winners.

Banner Advertisements are more beneficial:

Online Marketing is gaining momentum speedily, and is becoming a strong medium of advertising on the internet. Amongst the various advertising options like the emails, banners, text ads and even spam mails, I personally feel that the Banners are the most effective medium of advertising. I don’t say this because I have been commissioned to promote Banners, but to state a fact I am personally very attracted towards a good Banner.

I have come across many such web pages that publish excellently constructed Banners that are very inviting to the visitors. And that exactly is the main purpose of a banner, to attract the visitors and deport him into the advertiser’s webpage. Thus here what we conclude is that the core content of a banner is a very important part of its designing. The more catchy and explanatory a banner the better is its ability to attract visitors.

Let me state an example here that shall explain what I mean by a self explanatory- catchy banner tagline. While browsing the internet one day, I happen to come across a webpage that sported a banner with an caption which said, ‘Real Flowers…For Anyone, From Anyone To Anywhere.’ Yes this was a banner for florist site. Look at the simplicity and accuracy of their selection of words. It is self explanatory and shall interest anyone who has a love for flowers.

Another interesting thing that the Banners can do for an advertiser is create a brand for them. It is not necessary that every visitor on the webpage shall invariably click on the banner and land on the advertiser’s website, but a much more likable possibility is that a frequent visitor to the website, will register the banner ad in his mind and shall come back to the advertiser when he is actually looking for the service or products in offer.

Finally from my personal view, I feel the banner ads are to some extent responsible in making the web pages more likely, though many of you might disagree with me on this, but as I said it is my personal view, I truly find the banner ads quite interesting and an excellent medium of online advertising and branding.
